Will Malik Hooker make the 53 man roster? Sunday’s pre-season finale will a long way in determining that outcome. *Photo by Joe Glorioso All-Pro Reels

As the Dallas Cowboys play their final Pre-Season game vs the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, here are 5 players on the Bubble to watch who or might not make the final Cowboys 53 man roster.

GREG ZUERLEIN

There is no doubt in my mind that he is making the team. He has missed the entire training camp after coming off season ending back surgery but he has been ramping up his work load. It will interesting to see how he does on field goals and extra points.

MALIK HOOKER

Head Coach Mike Mccarthy in his press conference yesterday said that he plans to rest up to 30 players on Sunday so let’s see how much playing time Hooker gets . Hooker is a veteran, but he hasn’t gotten a lot of practice time after coming off season ending achilles tendon surgery. The injury sidelined him for most of the 2020 season, and he is coming off of Covid-19 protocol this week as well. Let’s see how he performs on Sunday.

JA’QUAN HARDY

Lets be frank, the majority of these guys are not playing for a roster spot on this team but Ja’Quan Hardy might be. With the injury to Rico Dowdle, the Cowboys might be looking to keep a third running back behind Zeke Elliott and Tony Pollard. There is no clear cut candidate for the the third running back on the Cowboys 53 man roster and special teams impact may be a deciding factor. Hopefully he performs well and avoids dropping passes like he did against Houston. This will be his last chance to make a lasting impression.

RON’DELL CARTER

He hasn’t been mentioned much this season with the focus primarily on Bradlee Anae, but he is on the cusp of making this roster. He did play in the final two games last year down the stretch, so it will come down between him and Anae for defensive end/edge rusher in my opinion. Whoever plays the best on Sunday may win the job.

ISRAEL MUKUAMU

He has had a solid rookie camp, but he is at the end of the safety depth chart. He is definitely on the bubble and a strong performance on Sunday may be the difference between a potential roster spot or the practice squad. A solid showing certainly will improve his chances of making the team but I think he has a legitimate shot to make the Cowboys 53 man roster regardless of how he plays on Sunday.
