Dak Prescott has won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, has made the Pro Bowl twice, and has won 2 division titles in his short career. This year he has an opportunity to add to his trophy case after being nominated for the Microsoft Surface “Anything but Ordinary Player of the Year Award”. This brand new NFL award, which will be presented at the annual NFL Honors on February 1st, recognizes and celebrates unique player achievements off the field.
The focus of this new award, is appreciation for NFL players that demonstrate passion and innovation in their endeavors off the field in various arena’s such as business, education, charities, etc. Dak Prescott is in consideration for this award for the charity that he created called Faith. Fight. Finish. Dak’s charity was created in honor of his mother Peggy who died of colon cancer in 2013. The focus of the Faith, Fight, Finish Foundation is to fight cancer and to offer assistance to those facing life-challenging hardships. Dak Prescott is one of 9 finalists for this inaugural NFL award and you can see his profile along with that of the other 8 finalists HERE.
Dak Prescott continues to strive for success on and off the field. On the field, for Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys, the 2019 NFL season was a huge disappointment. Despite Dak Prescott having his most brilliant season statistically the team finished 8-8, blew the NFC East title after leading the division for almost the entire season, and ultimately missed the playoffs. To make matters worse, Dak Prescott was unable to secure a long term contract with the Dallas Cowboys despite both he and the front office stating their intentions to get a deal done. Indeed 2019 was a tough year for Dak Prescott but perhaps winning this award will be the first of many good things to come for him and the Dallas Cowboys in 2020. The Jason Garrett era is over and now the Mike McCarthy era has begun. Dak Prescott and the rest of Cowboys Nation hope that this change will bring about the achievement of the one award that has escaped the franchise for nearly a quarter of a decade…the Super Bowl.
