Dallas Cowboys HOF WR Michael Irvin interviewed Alabama CB prospect Patrick Surtain II on The Michael Irvin Podcast which is available on PodcastOne. The two of them talked the draft, Nick Saban, and discussed a potential reunion with a former college teammate in the NFL. Here is a quick excerpt from “the Playmaker’s” chat with Patrick Surtain II.
Patrick Surtain II is a popular selection in Mock Drafts for the Dallas Cowboys and with his biggest competition at cornerback (Caleb Farley) undergoing a major back surgery, he is the consensus top cornerback in the 2021 NFL Draft. Surtain is certainly the most pro ready and polished cornerback prospect at the position and his recent performance at his pro day may have silenced some of his critics that claimed he has limited top end speed. Surtain could very well be the Cowboys pick at #10 overall but South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn is a name that has been picking up steam as of late. Other notable names are Northwestern OT Rashawn Slater and Florida Tight End Kyle Pitts who is an athletic freak and a pass catching machine.

Cowboys fans across the nation are hotly debating whether or not the Cowboys should draft the best player available or focus on need by committing to drafting a defensive player with the 10th overall pick in the draft. If the Cowboys do decide to take the safe route and chose Patrick Surtain II, a very good player at a position of dire need, most Cowboys fans would be o.k with that. Cowboys HOFer Michael Irvin on the other hand, would represent another large contingent of fans that are certain that Surtain is the right pick at #10.
